Brief History: Jibraltar is actually a variant of the original Jabl at Tariq. When Khalid ibn Waleed (ra) conquered a city, he brought in a young boy name Nusair as a slave to the Islamic Empire. This boy grew up among the Muslims and had a son named Musa, historically known as Musa bin Nusair. Musa bin Nusair was a governor of Africa in the Islamic empire. Musa had a slave named Tariq ibn Ziyad, whom he sent forth on the expedition to conquer the modern day Spain. When Tariq's fleet reached the shores of Iberian Peninsula, entire army of his disembarked at this Mount. There he ordered his ships to be burnt down, sending a clear message to his comrades, we either 'win' or 'die' trying.
